The Desert Series
This collection of ongoing works show a colourful mix reflecting my impressions emanating from the country surrounding Alice Springs and beyond.
The Ochre pits and the spectacular Rainbow Valley where sandstone weathered by water and wind over millennium has formed into the most incredible shapes. The depth and range of colours in these unique shapes has been a driving force behind this particular series.
I’ve also found inspiration around Cooper Pedy and the beautiful colours of the opals mined there, and from aerial views of NT countryside and Lighting Ridge, another opal mining area in NSW. I use photography, drawings and memory as the basis of my studio-produced work.
